Store listing visitors

Store listing visitors are people who reached your Google Play listing without already having the app installed on any of their devices.

Store listing visitors are the people who reached your app's Google Play store listing and did not already have the app installed on any of their devices, as Play Console counts them. A visitor is counted once per day for each breakdown, such as country or traffic source.

Why it matters

Store listing visitors are the start of the funnel Play Console reports. They tell you how many new people got to your page, and the traffic source breakdown tells you how: Google Play search (searches for your app's name or closely related brand terms), Google Play explore (browsing, suggestions, charts and category searches), and referrals and ads.

What happens next is reported as clicks. Play's acquisition reports count unique users who clicked Install, Open or Pre-register, and show a click-through rate in place of the older conversion rate. The older "store listing acquisitions" figure is still available in Statistics and in CSV exports. Comparing a recent period with an older one, use the same metric.

Example (a fictional app)

An indie developer of a recipe app sees store listing visitors from Google Play explore rise after the app appears in a category list. Clicks rise less than visitors, so the click-through rate falls. That does not mean the listing got worse: browsing visitors are less sure about what they want than people who searched for the app by name. The developer compares the click-through rate within each source instead of overall.

Where Indevaro fits

Indevaro reads Google Play store performance and labels days that Play has not reported yet as not reported, rather than as zero. It shows Google Play next to the App Store without summing them. It does not run store listing experiments for you; Play Console does that.
